The “Consorzio del vino Orcia” among the outstanding wine associations

The creation of the Doc Orcia coincided with a change in the climate: there were no more heavy spring frosts. These frosts were once very frequent, and the main obstacle to successful viticulture. After the appellation was established, about 40 wineries were founded, and original ones were better able to flourish.

The quality of wine producing has increased considerably with the advent of specialized new vineyards designed from scratch to produce and process high quality grapes.

On July 25, 2014 the Consortium received the “Erga Omnes” acknowledgment from the Ministero delle Politiche Agricole, Alimentari e Forestali. It provides quality control promotion for the Orcia wine.

The Consortium is deeply engaged in developing marketing strategies and events in order to make Orcia wine an important resource for the companies and the territory.
