Orcia Doc wines, wine producers

The Consortium’s aim is to safeguard and promote the image of Orcia Doc wines.

After the first partial recognition of the value of this territory’s wines – formalized by the introduction of the I.G.T. Orcia (Ministerial Decree 1995) –the important designation of DOC was accorded at the beginning of 2000 (Ministerial Decree 14.02.2000) a further confirmation of the œnological   potential of the Province of Siena at which point the commitment, initiative and tenacity of a few pioneer producers brought about the birth of the Consorzio del Vino Orcia.

Established as a free association of producers, the Consortium’s aim is to safeguard and promote the image of this wine and to spread its reputation in Italy and the world, encouraging the participation of its associated producers at the most qualified events of both national and international standing as well as uniting small and large estates in adopting a common strategy for the qualitative success of an Orcia Denomination of Origin and joining forces in territorial synergy with the Orcia Wine Route, the Natural World Heritage Park of the Val d’Orcia and the townships of the area.
