landscape of the crete senesi: dark cypresses lining the approaches to castles, abbeys, farms and medieval villages

A land gifted with Quality

The Val d’Orcia is considered to be among the most beautiful countrysides in the world and that it is why in 2004 UNESCO recognized the area as a World Heritage site; the first rural zone to gain such recognition.

The beauty of the landscape characterizes the whole Orcia wine production area, ranging from the lunar landscape of the “crete senesi” to the gentle hills of the valley with its rows of cypresses, castles, abbeys, farms and medieval villages. Fields of grain dominate the landscape alternating with century-old olive trees, vineyards, and pastures.

Today, the 12 towns of the Orcia area are among some of the most exclusive tourist destinations thanks to the presence of excellent thermal baths.
